The two rugby clubs in Telford, Rugby Unions Hornets and Rugby Leagues Raiders are pleased to announce the signing of a deal which will see the Raiders play at the Hornets town park home for the next three years.

The Raiders were tenants at the Hornets ground in the summer of 2023, a year in which the Raiders became Midlands Men and Womens champions. Such was the success of the venture both on and off the pitch, and the two clubs were keen to extend the arrangement.

The clubs are already closely linked to the Raiders, having last played at the ground in 2011; both clubs have many players, male and female, who play both rugby codes and share many supporters. The deal will likely mean that Telford’s rugby fans can watch rugby year-round while enjoying the excellent hospitality and facilities that the ground offers.

Raiders chair Fred Baker said, ‘We are thrilled to have formalised our arrangement, and I’m very confident that the use of the superb facilities that the Hornets ground and clubhouse offer will help us grow and develop as a club. I’m grateful to Hornets chair Neil Thomas and his team for welcoming us, and I’m sure the agreement will be of mutual benefit to both clubs.’

Hornets chair Neil Thomas said, we are delighted to have the Raiders using our facilities over the summer months. Last season’s success for the Raiders has already brought some new spectators and players to the Hornets club. We wish the Telford Raiders well for the coming season and hope both the male & female teams reproduce their success of 2023.
