Telford, 11/01/24 – Telford Raiders Rugby League proudly announces the appointment of Nathan Parker as the new Mens Head Coach, succeeding Phil Cavanagh. Nathan, a familiar face in the Telford Raiders family, brings a wealth of experience and a winning spirit to the coaching role.
Having donned the Telford Raiders jersey since the age of 15, Nathan Parker has left an indelible mark on the team. His remarkable career reached its pinnacle last year in 2023 when he helped the team to victory, clinching the league title. This achievement added another layer to his triumphs, as Nathan had previously secured the league title in 2018.
Despite his incredible playing career, Nathan has decided to retire due to injury. The transition from player to head coach was a natural progression, and Chairman Fred Baker, who spearheaded the selection process, identified Nathan as the perfect fit for the role. Describing him as a “natural leader” and acknowledging Nathan’s exceptional career with Telford Raiders, Fred Baker is confident that Nathan will continue to elevate the team’s performance.
Nathan Parker shared his thoughts on this exciting new chapter, stating, “As I embark on this new chapter as head coach, my 14-year journey as a player within the club has been a foundation of privilege and growth. I’m eager to lead, inspired to make a meaningful impact, and driven by the collective pursuit of success. Let’s not only build on the legacy but aim to surpass the achievements of last year. Together, we’ll carve a path of excellence on and off the field.”
Joining Nathan in his coaching endeavors are Joe Furlong and Denham Samuels, who will serve as Assistant Coach and Club Captain, respectively. The coaching staff aims to bring a harmonious blend of experience, strategic insight, and leadership to guide Telford Raiders to further success.
In addition, Martin Foskett will resume his role as Team Manager, contributing to the smooth operation and coordination of the team’s activities.
